Full Day Programs
Reach For The Sky Art Program All camps will include sketching, painting, and sculpture activities. Day camps will include themed projects that will allow participants to explore their sense of expression, socialize with their peers, and learn new techniques such as book binding, print making and origami. Be prepared to explore your imagination, bring sketchbooks outside, and wear clothes you can get creative in (aka messy). All supplies are included.

Perfect for the active boy or girl! This full day program is filled with - you guessed it - SPORTS! Days are spent either outside (weather dependant) or in our community gym, and include a variety of common sports. Experience sports such as soccer, floor hockey, flag football, basketball, badminton, cooperative games, volleyball and much more. Each day also features at least one special guest for some in-depth skill instruction and exposure to new and different sports. Last year, guest instructors included Lacrosse, Fencing, Soccer, Tennis, Goal Ball, Aikido, Ultimate Frisbee, and Netball. With so many different sports to learn, this program will keep your kids active!

So You Think You Can Dance Program Get out of the house this summer and come experience our version of the hit TV reality show. During our fun five day program, your child will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of dance styles, movements and skills with an eclectic mix of music. Each morning and afternoon will include at least 90 minutes of formal dance instruction; filled with basic fundamental dance steps, music, learning games, and short dance combinations. Your child will leave this program with an increased sense of confidence, creativity, rhythm, and improved coordination; all learned in a safe and encouraging environment. Also included daily are fun out door activities (weather dependent) and cooperative games. Ages: 6 - 9 yrs

It's All In The Act Drama Camp It's all in the act - the act of being a young performer that is! Join us for five days of imaginative exploration and fun where there are no boundaries to your creative processes except yourself. Explore basic dramatic techniques such as projecting your voice, creating characters and improvising scenes as well as gaining the confidence to stand on stage. Don't stop with just the performers in the show - this camp will also explore the creative arts that help build the visual showcase such as mask making, set decorating, face painting, costumes and more. All supplies will be provided.

Science Come join "Bryan the Science Guy" in an exciting and interactive week of science. Be prepared to get "ooooey and gooey" when you make your own slime and other interesting things like straw bridges, and mining for "rocks" in cookie crumbles. Enrich your child's learning experiences through hands-on science activities. Each session is tailored to the age, grade and interest of the students. Bryan will be teaching July 15 - 19, 2013 and our newest Science Guy will be teaching July 22 - 25, August 12 - 16 and August 19 - 23. Both of these instructors are awesome! Ages: 6 - 9 yrs

Byte Camp - 11 - 14 yrs. (Byte Camp is a private camp offered at SFCRA and is not an SFCRA run camp, therefore does not qualify for the multiple program registration discount.) "Flash Video Game Design" (July 8 - 12, 2013) Create your own wacky characters, cool game play and fun levels in your very own on-line game! Students will start the week making short animated films, and each day new programming skills will be taught to help them make the animations interactive. The final project is a video game built from scratch that will go on-line and is handed out on take-home USB sticks! Have a look at www.bytecamp.ca for hundreds of great games from previous years! Lots of time during the week is devoted to outdoor activities so that your child is fresh for new challenges.

"3D Animation" (July 22 - 26, 2013) Dreaming of a career with PIXAR? Ever wonder how those awesome 3D animated movies like Shrek, Toy Story and The Incredibles are made? Spend the week learning how by modelling, animating and telling your own stories in 3D. You'll use wonderful (& free!) 3D software to design characters that jump off the screen and then make them come alive by adding voices, soundtracks and completing your own animated short film. Final projects will be posted on-line and handed out on take-home USB sticks to show off to friends and family.

"Music Video Production" (August 6 - 9, 2013) Make your own music and music video! Camp time will be split between digital music composition, video filming and editing. Use amazing software tools to craft your very own song from scratch. Play an instrument? Bring it to camp to record yourself and add a digital backup band. Experiment with video and editing techniques to make the video as cool as your tune. Learn how to add special effects too! No music or video experience necessary.

"Claymation Movie Production" (August 12 - 16, 2013) Make your own clay characters come to life, just like Wallace and Gromit! Participants will get to build their own clay characters, sets and props; develop their own script; shoot their movie scenes; and then learn to edit and add sounds and special effects to complete the whole project. Completed projects are posted on-line at www.bytecamp.ca and handed out on take home USB sticks. Don't worry parents, there will be plenty of time devoted to outdoor games and activities!

Create and Groove PRESCHOOLERS Art Program Does your child love to create, dance, and groove? Join us for this creative arts program specifically designed for "tiny" participants to enjoy. This hands-on art and dance program will encourage your child to explore the world of creative art through the use of paper, paints, play-dough, movement, dance and crafts. Each day includes art instruction, songs, musical games and much, much more designed to stimulate creativity and imagination. Participants can bring any finished projects home. Also included each day are developing coordination, language and social interaction skills through the use of story time, creative play, and dance. Wee Sports Program Unsure what to do with that "active" little one? Come try our modified, age appropriate version of our Sports, sports and more sports. Your preschooler will experience a variety of popular sports, in a non-competitive, fun atmosphere. Pint-Sized Scientists Does your child have an interest in science? Come join us in our NEW science program for your preschooler. Your "pint-sized scientist" will take part in social interaction games, mini science experiments, crafts and much more. Types of experiments would be: building a volcano, tornado in a bottle, planting seeds, and others. This is an un-parented program and all participants attending MUST be fully potty-trained to attend. Ages: 3 - 5 yrs (un-parented)

JUST ADDED! BRAND NEW FOR SUMMER 2013! Do you want a head start on the upcoming skating or hockey season?? Are you interested in continuing to build the skills you've learned over the winter session? Come join us in our BRAND NEW SUMMER SKATING STARS! Register in your AGE group (not skate level) where our qualified instructors can tailor each lesson to the ability and interests of your child. Each class may include a group warm up, large group games, fun, circuit skill development and a full ice free skate to end each class! Just because it is hot outside, don't let those skates get rusty, cool off on the ice!

To ensure the health and safety of all participants, SFCRA has the following standards in place:
SFCRA proudly accepts the City of Calgary Fee Assistance Program.
Refund Policy: Refunds requested up to one week prior to the start date of desired program will receive a full refund. All refunds requested after the registration deadline are subject to a $10.00 administration fee. Once a program has started, refunds will only be issued for medical reasons, and require a doctor’s note. Please Note: There will be a $20.00 fee charged on all NSF cheques posted to SFCRA.
